Site Information

The images in this collection are the earliest images in the large aerial photography collection housed in the Information Office of the Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology on the campus of the University of Nevada, Reno.  This archive contains several hundred thousand images that focus primarily on Nevada and the Great Basin Region.

The images were scanned for the NBMG in 2000 by the Nevada Department of Transportation Imagery Services at 8-bit grayscale on flatbed scanner at 1400 dpi to create high resolution, uncompressed TIFF images; the web images are made accessible in JPEG2000 format for zoom and pan interaction via CONTENTdm's interface for web delivery. Files were loaded into the CONTENTdm digital media management software, assigned metadata, and uploaded to the library's servers.

The team that produced the project was:

Glee Willis, Digital Projects Librarian (retired)
David Davis, Information Specialist, NBMG
