| Description/Notes | Commissioned by Filippo Strozzi in 1489. A model was done at some point by Giuliano da Sangallo (Bargello Museum collection). Benedetto da Maiano may have designed it, but actually construction was overseen by Simone del Pollaiuolo, known as Il Cronaco or just, Cronaco. The design of the inner courtyard is attributed to Conaca, and he also designed to dramatic projecting cornice on the facade (east side) which runs partially around the north side and stops, unfinsihed (the Strozzi's ran short of money following Filippo's death). Renovated, 1886-1889 under the architect Pietro Berti (1847-1904). See: http://www.palazzostrozzi.info/fimo/concluse/botticelli/en/sede/index.htm |
